Here’s a little joke for you.
Q: How do you make a 10-second turkey cutlet?
A: Open a package of turkey lunch meat.
I know, I know. It’s a strange-sounding joke, and on its own, it doesn’t even appear to make any sense. But there is only one thing that could actually make a joke that bad funny—and that’s the fact that this is exactly what happened to me!
Every month we order a box of meat from ButcherBox, and this time around we were sure we had added turkey cutlets to the order to try out. When the box arrived, we put the frozen packages away as we always do. We even got as far as thawing the package all the way out in the fridge, still without realizing what was actually inside.
The punchline came on dinner night. I went into the kitchen to cook up our “turkey cutlet” meal, and just 10 seconds later, I called out to the house:
“Dinner is ready!”
I then explained to everyone what the deal was. It wasn’t raw cutlets at all—it was pre-sliced turkey lunch meat! Dinner was now officially turkey sandwiches.
We all got a good laugh out of it and enjoyed our unexpected dinner. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or in this case, when ButcherBox gives you turkey lunch meat instead of cutlets, make sandwiches!
Happy Sunday, everyone.
