About Us

This isn’t the first time I’ve driven down this road – the blogging road, that is.

For several years, I was the co-owner of a food blog. I had a lot of fun being a part of it, but eventually that chapter came to an end. When it did, I went into a sort of “blogging reset” mode that lasted a few years. It was always my hope that I would find the road back to blogging again one day.

During that time, we took on a major home project: a complete kitchen remodel. It was during that project that I realized why it had taken me so long to find my way back to blogging. Much like our old kitchen no longer suited the needs of our family, the narrow focus of my old blog no longer suited me.

I am many things, and the “home chef” that co-owned my former blog is only one of them. While that part of me is still very much alive, I am also a husband, a father to a busy son, a music lover, a baseball fan, a seeker of family adventures, and the owner of two loveable and spirited Australian Shepherds, among other things.

I realized I didn’t want to just build another virtual kitchen. I wanted to build a road that would take me to other places of interest as well. The Renaissance Road is my path to a new adventure, and this time I’m the sole owner. While I may be the one driving the car, I believe that a great journey is even better with company, so you’ll occasionally see my wife Lori and my son Max joining me on the drive. Also known as my passengers on the road.

Lori joins in for our musical debates on “Tune Talk,” and she also just might drop in from time to time with other random thoughts that cross her mind as we navigate our busy days of work and everyday life.

Max is my teammate on “The Home Plate,” a post series about finally making some of the recipes he has a habit of saving on Alexa. He’s been building the collection for years, and it’s finally time to give some of them a try! He also brings a third rating to the songs we talk about on Tune Talk—three ratings are better than two, and when we all happen to disagree it just adds to the fun.

It’s great to be back. I hope you’ll travel along with me on The Renaissance Road, a road curated by curiosity.
