If our first Tune Talk post was about taking flight, this one is about hitting the pavement. While Tom Cochrane’s version is the original, the Rascal Flatts cover has become the “go-to” in our house. Interestingly, Cochrane wrote the song as a personal “pep talk” to himself after a difficult time in his life, and that energy definitely lives on today.
Both versions of the song are great, but perhaps we lean towards the Rascal Flatts recording because it reminds us of a certain red racecar on the big screen! It’s a great song for a road trip – just don’t try to match Lightning McQueen’s speeds while listening and driving!
